Your Zoo

Credits & licences

Your Zoo stands on a lot of other people's work. Here is whose — in full, with names and licences. The same list is in the app under Settings → Credits & licences.

Map

The enclosures, paths and landmarks come from OpenStreetMap.

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. For the app, an extract of the zoo grounds was taken, converted into a dedicated format and extended with viewpoints and enclosure-to-species mappings. The underlying OSM extract sits in the app's public repository so the derivation stays traceable.

The grey base map under the enclosures is drawn by Apple Maps (MapKit) and is subject to Apple's own terms; its attribution is displayed by the map itself.

Animal texts and enclosure information

The stories, summaries and facts were written for this guide and compiled from publicly available sources, in particular zoo-frankfurt.de, Wikipedia and the IUCN Red List. The sources used for each species are recorded in the app's content data.

Your Zoo is an independent project and is not affiliated with Frankfurt Zoo. The zoo neither wrote, reviewed nor approved these texts. “Zoo Frankfurt” and the names of the enclosures are used descriptively only; all rights in them remain with their owners. The zoo's own information always takes precedence.

Fonts

Both are licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1. The full licence text ships with the app and can be expanded there under Credits & licences.

This website itself loads no fonts at all; it uses your device's system font and fetches nothing from third parties.

Speech

The stories are read out on the device by the iOS speech synthesiser (AVSpeechSynthesizer). The voices belong to your operating system, not to this app.

Every animal photograph comes from Wikimedia Commons. Author, licence and source page are listed below for each image; the images were only scaled and cropped for the app. Where a licence is of the “share alike” type, its conditions continue to apply.
